The primary mission of non-commercial educational FCC licensed Diocesan Telecommunications Corporation/K-LUX/ 89.5 HD Radio is to provide positive, wholesome programming which includes easy listening music, interspersed with programs and messages that are responsive to the needs of the community, as required by FCC rules. Topics such as health, nutrition, housing, employment, education, family life, emergency management and public services to the Coastal Bend Community, as well as inspiration and spiritual growth, are included in the daily schedule of 30, 60, and 90 second announcements. The station has been crafted to entertain, inform, inspire and serve; to exist as a viable broadcast alternative for the community. We provide more than 40,000 public service announcements for local non-profit community organizations, civic groups, and governmental agencies. We are the only station in Corpus Christi working with the Local Area Planning Committee (LEPC) in times of emergency. The station is accessible over the air in the Corpus Christi and surrounding areas (100 mile radius) and also around the world online at www.klux.org.
The U.S. government mandated that radio stations west of of the Mississippi River have call letters that begin with the letter K. LUX is the word for light in the Latin language. Therefore, our call letters are K-LUX, because we are a light in the world. We are Good Company, 89.5 K-LUX.
