We started in October of 2001. The mission of the District 840 Foundation is to enhance and support the efforts of the St. James School District to provide the best possible education for the children of our community. They are our future. We have granted over $720,000 since we started. Our money that we grant the K-12th grades comes from fundraisers and donations. We are a rural, low income community. Our fundation awards classrooms with educational items and class trips to give experiences to some students that maybe wouldn't get the chance to experience. Past items we have given to our classrooms are music room pianos, guitars, lots and books (some bi-lingual), projectors, classroom Smartboards, small greenhouse for the high school, sewing machines, car lift for the auto mechanics class, math class graphing calculators, skeleton, micrscopes, student iPads, Chemistry lab equipment, cameras and equipment to start a video class, and so many more items over the years. We have our grants listed on the District 840 Foundation's area on the school website.
