Our organization allows us to work closely with shelters in the South and here in Connecticut to save the lives of loving and loyal dogs who have sadly found themselves in shelters on death row through absolutely no fault of their own. In addition to our traditional adoptions, Dog Star Rescue is proud to have a special adoption program just for honorably discharged U.S. armed forces veterans. The Dog Star Veterans Program (DS4V) is a veteran dedicated program focused on matching specially identified rescue dogs to be companion dogs, and to help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and are 100% volunteer based, with a dedicated group of individuals who donate their time and energy because of their love and passion for helping dogs find the forever homes they so richly deserve.

Since our rescue’s inception in January, 2014, we have rescued and rehomed more than 6,000 dogs.
