Audubon’s mission is to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation.

Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center is located in the "nature corridor" of Cedar Hill, TX, a unique urban greenspace ideal for introducing local students to nature and working with the community to engage them in environmental conservation. We work with local schools in Dallas, Ellis, and Tarrant Counties to provide experiences that reinforce the scientific concepts taught in the classroom. Our nature preserve serves as an outdoor classroom where students can apply learned concepts to real life. We work to engage all demographics of our community by providing hiking trails for those looking for outdoor fitness, a nature playground area where small children can creatively engage with nature through touch and play, education opportunities to all ages, quiet space in an urban area for reflective and meditative moments that we are all finding to be important to mental health in the past couple of years, and act as stewards of this special environment we are privileged to manage. We work to instill a sense of environmental stewardship in youth and the community at large and help them understand the many health and economic advantages of having this special place in their community.

Funds raised support environmental science and conservation initiatives, including school education programs, public outreach, conservation of urban greenspace in Dallas County, care of captive non-releasable birds of prey that serve as education ambassadors, and maintenance of hiking trails.
