Dolores Mission School (DMS) is a Catholic parish grade school, committed to serving Transitional Kindergarten (TK) - 8th grade students from low-income families in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles. Together with the family, we strive to educate the whole child: academically, spiritually, physically, and morally, in a nurturing environment. DMS now serves 263 children from more than 200 families, of which, 75%  earn incomes below $24K each year. The majority of the families we serve also live in three local housing projects surrounding the school: Pico Gardens, Las Casitas, and Pueblo del Sol.  As the birthplace of Homeboy Industries, it is DMS’s goal to continue empowering our children to rise out of poverty and violence by becoming educated- leaders in their community: "women and men for and with others."
