DPHS PTSA supports students, families, eduators, staff and the community in many ways. We provide support for:
Beautify DP-every month, students & staff clean and improve the campus.
Reflections Art Contest
Sponsor lecturers at our monthly association meetings-most recent were experts on cyber safety and mental health.
Classroom Funding-Bridging the fiscal gap that extends beyond the constraints of our district & state budgets, we provide teachers with funds to purchase items to enhance the education of our students.
Our largest project is After Prom.
Since 1986, After Prom has been held for senior students and their approved guests. It is held immediately after Senior Prom, from 11pm to 4am. It provides the attendees with a secure place to have fun and stay safe & sober. This year it will be held on May 3 at Bowlero in Goleta. The students bowl, play arcade games, use the photo booth and play a myriad of other games in the secured patio. There is an abundance of food, treats, & soft drinks. The students are enticed to attend by the awarding of raffle prizes every 15 minutes. The grand prizes are awarded at 4am, which is a strong motivator to keep the students in this drug-free & alcohol-free environment the whole night. The prizes are funded through donations from families, local organizations & businesses. 47% of our students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged households. Tickets (priced at $20) are provided for no charge to those for which it is a financial burden.
Keeping the students and community members safe on Prom Night is of utmost importance to all of us at DPHS.
