The Dream Factory of Maine grants the “dreams” of seriously and chronically ill youngsters from 3 to 18 years of age. We have sent a young man and his family from Kennebunkport to the Olympics, and a young cancer patient from Portland to the Super Bowl. We have built playgrounds and installed several swimming pools, and sent many, many families from all over Maine to theme parks.
Whatever the dream request, our goal remains the same: To bring a moment of “sunshine”
into a child’s life that is too often filled with pain and suffering. The two chapters of The
Dream Factory in Maine has granted over 400 dreams, and 25,000 have been granted
nationally! The Dream Factory is also the only children’s wish-granting organization that
grants dreams to children with chronic illnesses as well as life-threatening illnesses. We believe
that children with chronic illnesses should also be given a reprieve from their constant
struggle with medical problems.
We are an all-volunteer 501c3 organization that raises all of our own money; 90% of which
stays in Maine and goes directly to fulfilling these very special dreams. The Dream Factory
of Maine is part of a national organization that has received a 4-star rating from Charity
Navigator, the nation’s largest independent charity evaluator, for 9 straight years. This 4-star rating insures donors that they are contributing to an organization that has met the highest standards in
accountability and transparency.
