We need your help!  The Brooks County Ed Rachal Memorial Library is going through a remodel to modernize our facility.  Our current library was built in 1970 (yes, it is 52 years old) and it has never been updated until now.  We are hoping to get new shelving for the books, furniture, and changing the inside to a more open and updated layout.  As you know the library, which is open to both adults and children plays a very important part in our community.  Our library is designed to encourage children and adults to have a place for them to meet, study, read and to enjoy all the many other benefits that the library offers.

Falfurrias Elementary School is located at the end of our block and the children often come in if they require a safe place to wait until a parent or guardian can come pick them up.  We also have groups of children that come along to study together, often times with tutors or just by themselves. Thus, reating a fun, social environment for them to enjoy.

We want this remodel so we can give back to our community.  We have an ideal location in the center of town, which allows us to be easily accessible.  We are so much more than a library, we are a shelter for natural disasters and we are a safe place for those who need it.  we are also a meeting place for local organizations such as law enforcement, city officials, CPS and the Purple Door. In addition we want to increase community vibrancy and foster even more local connections.  Our library is truly the heart of our community.

We hope that you will consider joining our efforts to support our local community.
