It is El Teatro Campesino's (ETC) mission to make teatro a creator of vibrant community. Founded by Luis Valdez in 1965 as the cultural arm of the UFW movement, ETC functions as a multi-generational, ensemble-run theatre company providing work in three main spheres: Professional Theatre, Arts Education and Community Arts. For fifty-five years now, ETC has been at the forefront of using theatre as an artistic generator of social change and continues to empower artists and communities from its homebase in San Juan Bautista.
