Elliott Elementary PTO Mission Statement and Overview

The Elliott School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to strengthen, enhance, and encourage the educational and social environment of Elliott Elementary. Its goals are to complement the school curriculum with additional opportunities for students, teachers, and parents to learn, socialize, communicate, and grow.

The members of the PTO include parents, legal guardians, and staff associated with Elliott Elementary. The PTO Board is composed of PTO members who are elected to Board positions by its existing members. The PTO meets on a monthly basis throughout the school year. Board members, along with other appointed PTO members, manage the organizational and financial aspects of all PTO functions.

The PTO operates on an annual budget, which is approved by a PTO membership vote at an annual PTO meeting held early in the school year. The money used to sponsor PTO activities is raised through PTO membership dues and annual fundraising events throughout the year. Membership dues are $15 per family, payable at the beginning of each school year. The PTO allocates fundraising proceeds to supplement the students' educational, social, and emotional needs not within the school budget. PTO provides school assemblies, D.A.R.E., Grandparents Day, and Fun Day, along with other events throughout the year. Mini grants help pay for classroom and office supplies, curriculum, and good behavior rewards. The PTO supports school and family social interaction and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.

The achievements of the Elliott PTO can be measured in the cooperative spirit with which parents and teachers work together to share their care and concern for Elliott's students. The PTO's success can be seen in the student's appreciation for their school, their teachers, and the opportunities these give to them.
