GOALS

To educate our peers on the ongoing conflicts in the Arab World and its vast effects on our lives as Arab-American women living in the United States.

To express female empowerment within the Arab World and contradict the common misconceptions of oppression.

To show the diversity in culture that exists within the Arab World and the ways in which Arab women have impacted Arab culture, society, and history, and continue to be active representatives of Arab culture around the world.

To break down the cultural barriers and stigma against Arabs within our sisterhood and our immediate community.

We are big on making a philanthropic impact for those in need, utilizing the resources that are granted to us through community support.

-I am a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and also Social Chair, Recruitment Chair, and Creative Outreach Chair of Epsilon Alpha Sigma, the Empowered Arab Sisterhood, a non-political and non-religious organization dedicated to showcasing the diversity of the Arab world. I am writing to ask for your support for our organization’s annual Remembering the Refugees banquet. This event is dedicated to enlightening UNLV and the Las Vegas community of ways to support the refugee crisis through a night of music, entertainment, food, and raffle prizes.

Since its inception in 2013, Remembering the Refugees has raised more than $100,000 to support medical aid, transportation costs, and education to refugee children across the Middle East. Throughout the past 3 years, our chapter at UNLV has raised over $20,000. This event brings together 100 individuals from the Las Vegas community. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Friends of Kayany, a U.S. public charity dedicated to giving Syrian refugee children in Lebanon an opportunity to learn and hope for the future.

During our banquet, we raffle off prizes in order to generate funds for our philanthropic impact. All of us at Epsilon Alpha Sigma at UNLV would tremendously appreciate it if you may provide a gift card, ticket, experience, gift basket (or any related item) for the raffle, or if you may donate a check to add to our total to donate to Friends of Kayany. In return we would put your name and logo on our outreach materials, program, and will showcase it throughout the night to promote your company.
