Faith Baptist School believes “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” and that all subjects should be taught in the light of the Scriptures. In His sovereign plan God placed upon both parents and the local New Testament church the responsibility of training and educating their children.
Parental responsibilities are detailed in such passages as Deuteronomy 6, Colossians 2:8, and the book of Proverbs; while, in passages such as Ephesians 4:12- 15 and I Timothy 3:15, the church is also charged to instruct its members in sound doctrine. The home and the church, two institutions established by God, are to work together to train the child.
The training up of our children is not meant to be a government responsibility. Our children belong to God. We are responsible for these precious gifts which He has entrusted to us. Luke 2:52 states that “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man,” (wisdom, intellectually; stature, physically; in favor with God, spiritually). Not unlike Christ was, our children ought to be encouraged to grow physically, to grow in the wisdom and understanding knowledge may provide, and to grow closer to their heavenly Father. To this end, Faith Baptist School, as a ministry of Faith Baptist Church in Salisbury, Maryland, exists.
The faculty and staff of Faith Baptist School will assist parents in the Christian training and educating of their children through the use of the following:
- A Christian Faculty: FBS solely employs teachers who claim salvation through Christ alone. Full-time teachers must be active for Christ and dedicated to Christian education. - A Christian Curriculum: Through the majority use of textbooks which promote a Christian worldview such as Bob Jones University Press, Abeka, Positive Action Bible Curriculum as well as the carefully conscious selection of secular textbooks to fill out the remaining needs, FBS uses the tools which further the Biblical objectives of the school. As these textbooks become more or less useful and effective, the school consciously decides how and when to move to or away from them. Overall though, the textbooks which are utilized are tools for the master teacher and should not solely dictate the classroom's procedures. Objectives and standards adopted by FBS must be what move classroom learning.
- A Christian Constituency - FBS, though aware that private Christian schools are being looked upon with favor and strongly considered by non-Christians, desires only those students and families who really wish to attend a Christian school and who will be in complete support of the standards the school establishes.
