Faith on the Fairway is a charity golf and online silent auction event that serves the children of North Chicago, IL. Specifically, about 98% of our proceeds from the event go directly to the North Chicago Public Education Foundation (NCPEF) Lancer Warhawks Scholarship Fund.
The purpose of the NCPEF Scholarship fund is to provide a post secondary education at College of Lake County for every graduating senior of North Chicago High School, for two years, full-ride. Faith on the Fairway (aka Faith Lutheran Church Lake Forest) has partnered with our neighboring community of North Chicago because of the great financial need they have. About 60% of North Chicago residents are marginalized minorities, and about 21% live below the poverty line.
Our organization helps students from the marginalized community continue their education at the local community college. Many need to stay close to home to help their families, thus the local community college, College of Lake County is a good fit and very close to them. They may study a trade or go for a degree. It is their choice. Prior to receiving the scholarship, the students meet with counselers to discuss the direction they would like to pursue.
In addition, Faith Lutheran will continue to help the students navigate the community college with mentoring and other support that they may need.
Over the past two events, we raised over $75,000 for the students in North Chicago!
