In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, Families for Freedom was founded in response to racial harassment and deportations targeting immigrant communities, three families joined forces. Over time, our organization has evolved into a support center for individuals facing deportation and families facing repressive laws. As a result of building alliances over the last two decades, we have been able to offer immigrants more support, educate marginalized communities, and combat unjust immigration laws. Developing practical strategies for the liberation of the members of our community caught in the system of brutal immigration enforcement is one of the main components. We have taken on several freedom campaigns to advocate for the release of ICE detainees. A number of our members have been successfully released from custody over the years as a result of the campaigns we have run. Our most recent accomplishment was the release of one of our members, Garfield Green from ICE custody, which marked the end of a seven-year separation from his family.
