Family Promise's mission is to provide emergency shelter services to homeless families with children that demonstrate a desire to become self-sufficient, including military families. Family Promise helps families develop life skills like cash management, find affordable childcare and housing, schools, and employment while providing support and encouragement. Annually we serve over 200 families (600-650 individuals) and achieve a 70% success rate -- families that stay together and find sustainable housing. Family Promise accomplishes this with the help of a network of 50 interfaith congregations and civic groups that provide food and housing, making our services at least 25% more cost efficient than traditional homeless shelters.
Family Promise is one of very few family shelters in the Phoenix area, and the only one that accepts the family pet. We help the community address the issue of family homelessness by guiding families to employment, training and housing with a goal to break the cycle of poverty for the children.
Our program model experiences a high rate of success: 90% of families in the program are employed within 30 days, and 70% graduate into sustainable housing within 45 days. This far exceeds national homeless recovery rates.
The Mulligans for Families Golf Tournament is a major annual fund-raising event to support our emergency family shelters.
