Family Promise of Sussex County is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that has been assisting homeless and at-risk households in Sussex County for over 25 years. The agency's mission is to secure housing stability and sustainability for those in crisis because everyone deserves a home. The agency provides support to individuals and families experiencing and at-risk for homelessness and helps them either obtain safe, affordable housing or prevents them from losing their homes. FPSC aims to foster self-sufficiency so that our clients can sustain their own housing in the future and end the cycle of homelessness. Our vision is that every individual and family shall have a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future.
The agency offers a comprehensive continuum of services across more than a dozen programs, including an emergency shelter, transitional housing for domestic abuse survivors, permanent supportive housing for people with disabilities or chronic illness, eviction prevention services, mobile outreach, utilities assistance, and many others. The agency also provides a number of supportive services, including a food pantry with personal hygiene and cleaning products, distrubtion of coats and cold weather gear, and Making Access Possible, or M.A.P. M.A.P. is a mobile access program that provides information on community resources including those for housing, addiction support, behavioral and mental health, employment services, legal aid, transportation, food pantries, and much more.
Family Promise of Sussex County's goal is to expand our shelter and transitional housing programs and to increase out capacity to support veterans, senior citizens, and other marginalized and hard to house groups.
