One in five Minnesota families with children are raising a child, youth, or young adult with disabilities. which includes children with extra medical, complex medical conditions, developmental, physical needs, behavioral or emotional needs.
Parents raising children with disabilities and extra needs often feel isolated and alone while struggling to find, access and navigate services their children need. Family Voices of Minnesota supports these families through:
o Connecting them with another parent who has a child with similar needs or experiences.
o Sharing information on services and supports including financial, healthcare, educational and community life resources.
o Providing emotional support, understanding and acceptance so they do not feel alone.
o Empowering them to speak up for their child and get needed services.
Our surveys show that 100% of the parents served would recommend Family Voices of Minnesota services to other parents in a similar situation.
