Famous Fido is a 501(c)3 Non-profit charity organization who strives to help the neediest of animals. We are their beacon of hope, and often their last chance at life. We resuce aniamls at risk for euthanasia in Chicago shelters, including cats with Feline Leukemia, aniamls with behavioral issues who need an advocate to do whatever it takes to give them a good life, seniors, bonded pairs, and aniamls with medical issues.
Each day, we get about 30 phone calls from individuals and animals in crisis. Although we cannot help every individual who calls, we do our best to provide counseling and resources to as many as we can. Each specific case takes time, and often emotional and financial involvement. In 2018, we helped over 3,000 individuals and animals in crisis by providing counseling and resources, and directly saved over 450 animals. In order to help even more in the coming years, we need to expand our reach and further our programs (CARE, GUARD, HOME, and SPEAK, which aim to educate the public about animal rights and animal protection.)
Every day, we are engaging in hand on rescue efforts of aniamls slated for euthanasia. Our goal is to end the deaths of homeless and adoptable animals and match them up in a timely manner with loving guardians. We aim to significantly broaden Chicagoland's ability to end pet overpopulation by forging alliances between concerned citizens, ogranizations, educators, lawmakers, Chicago shelters, and rescue organiztions who are comitted to doing the same. Through these alliances and programs, we strive to create a more compassionate society and transform the way Chicagoans acquire, care for and when necessary, rehome their companion animlas.
