The Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) is a community-based organization with a mission to advance artistic excellence and community empowerment by being an avenue of cultural growth for future generations to develop love and pride in their identity through music. Championing music education in underserved communities, FASO currently serves 500 students, ages 8-18, providing instruction classes in vocals, instrument, songwriting, and musicianship, and as well as performance opportunities.
FASO engages over 100 orchestra musicians and performers, and 40+ youth in the Junior Orchestra in an annual concert season. Presenting a synthesis of musical genres ranging from classical, indigenous, cultural to contemporary, the season engages 5,000+ attendees in person with a reach of over 1 million virtually. We seek to expand our impact by increasing the number of students served, providing free instruments, engaging more arts educators, and increasing awareness of Filipino American music and narratives.
