Five Counties Children's Centre is dedicated to working with families and community partners to provide innovative, evidence-based care for children and youth (ages 0-19) with physical, developmental and communication needs. We work with our clients to strengthen their abilities and promote their participation as active members of our community. This involves delivery of treatment by our professional staff in the areas of occupational, speech/language and physiotherapies, therapeutic recreation, augmentative communication, resource consultants and social work services. The therapy our staff provides makes all difference to our kids to encourage confidence, independence, and inclusion in our community.

For 48 years we've provided these vital services to kids and their families. The families we work with receive connection, comfort, and support from our team. With each unique family we ensure caregivers are also trained and ready to support a child so their therapy can be maintained between treatment sessions so they can continue to progress and achieve the best possible outcome.

We are continuing to develop, provide and monitor all of our programs in a number of ways ensure they continue to meet client needs going forward. This includes adapting treatment sessions to virtual appointments, renovating our backyard spaces so more children can be served every day and in new ways and offering innovative new programs, for example our robotics program in conjunction with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital which helps kids with practicing and developing decision making and problem-solving skills, provides them with the opportunity to practice following written, pictured, and verbal instructions and the opportunity to practice social skills in a group setting.

Donations support funding priority needs so Five Counties can continue to provide the essential care that our children require. In 2022/2023, we saw over 6,200 unique clients and provided 54,702 treatment sessions across all sites. Five Counties Increases the number of children treated each year but the waitlist continues to grow and currently sits at 2,581. Because of this, kids can be waiting for treatment for up to three years. Each day our kids do not receive treatment they fall further behind. Our goal is to keep kids in essential therapies and off waiting lists. Early intervention is very important in treatment and shortening waitlists is critical in getting the best possible outcome for each child.
