Flower Mound Lacrosse Association is dedicated to fostering and promoting a safe, disciplined, respectful, and team-oriented program where boys and girls can learn the fundamentals of lacrosse, develop skills to be competitive in the game, as well as build the essential characteristics of good sportsmanship along with strong character. Lacrosse is actually quite a new sport to the state of Texas with the first high-school team having been formed here in 1987. Today, lacrosse in north Texas is growing by leaps and bounds as new local players discover the sport and transplants from lacrosse hotbeds in other areas of the country relocate to the area. Even with this growing interest in the sport, lacrosse is not a UIL sport and receives no funding from school districts.

The Flower Mound lacrosse program originally started in 2009 under the Cross Timbers YMCA and, within two years, grew to the point where a new, independent organization was created - FMLA was formed to manage and operate the expanding program and continues the tradition of providing competitive lacrosse to youth and high school boys and girls in Flower Mound and surrounding areas. Annually we serve almost 200 youth athletes in 1st through 12th grades from all over southern Denton County; we have players on our teams who attend/will attend Flower Mound, Marcus, Lewisville, Argyle, and Denton ISD high schools. Each year our youth teams participate in tournaments all over the Metroplex during the fall and spring seasons and play games against other area teams primarily during the spring season. The high school teams are very competitive in their respective leagues and many Flower Mound players go on to play lacrosse at all levels in the NCAA. FMLA relies on the support of our community to continue to offer high-quality, year-round programming to local youth athletes and to expand interest in the sport in our area.
