We are a vital resource in the City of Charlottesville and the surrounding eight counties (Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange), providing essential services to children who have experienced abuse or trauma. We offer a comprehensive range of support services tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family. These services include forensic interviews conducted by specially trained professionals to gather accurate and admissible evidence, forensic medical exams to address any physical injuries or concerns, and family advocacy throughout the legal process. Additionally, we provide crucial support and resources to non-offending caregivers to help them navigate the complexities of the situation and ensure the well-being and safety of the child. By offering a multidisciplinary approach to healing and justice, we play a crucial role in breaking the cycle of abuse and empowering children to reclaim their sense of safety, security, and dignity. In the fiscal year 2023, we served 349 children from across the region and collaborated with other child advocacy centers in Richmond, Harrisonburg, Fredericksburg, and Staunton.
