Foothold is a faith-based nonprofit serving in Kenya, East Africa utilizing sustainable, local resources and people to make lasting change in the lives of local communities. Our focus is clean water, sanitation, and hygiene innovations as well as education and mental health initiatives that empower people to prevent disease while providing a way out of poverty.

What this looks like is providing washable menstrual pads for adolescents, training local women's groups to make soap for local schools, building and installing Biosand water filters using local materials, providing microloans to community-based groups (with an emphasis on women's groups), developing an adult literacy program in rural areas, and providing clean water wells to schools and targetted areas.
