Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity serves Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, Milam, and Falls counties located in Central Texas. Our mission is to provide affordable decent housing for lower income individuals/families. We also provide critical home repairs, safety rails and ramps, assist with community clean up and help with natural disasters. We are a small non profit but we try to make a differance in peoples lives. In the last 27 years we have built over a hundred homes, did close to 30 critical home repairs (in the last 3 years) and installed 102 ramps. We are not Federaly funded so we operate on grants and donations.
We do fund raisers such as Project Playhouse and Freedom Raffle to help us raise awareness of what we do and get funds to help us with our mission to build homes. Our home owners do pay for thier homes just less as we have volunteers and businesses which donate time and services to us. While we have to pay up front for building materials the families pay over time so we raise the funding other ways like with the Freedom Raffle where we raffle a vehicle (we buy the vehicle) but we are asking for tickets to add as an contingency prize for this event.
