Our Mission
We bring awareness to the issues children face in foster care and provide various supports to help bridge the gap within their peer group and the systems that affect their lives.
In 2006 our Founder, Cathy Oskowiak adopted a child from the foster care system. She then began working with a local foster agency as a Nurse Consultant. It was through her close work with foster and biological families that her eyes were opened to the array of difficulties facing children in foster care. The abuses and neglect many have and will experience are unimaginable. Children entering the system are pulled from the only family they have ever known and placed in a strange, new environment, often with little or no notice provided them or their new foster family. Most times, children arrive at their new homes with nothing but the clothes they’re wearing. They are more prone to bullying and rejection in school by peers who can’t see or relate to their trauma. Once Cathy saw firsthand the cumulative tragedies these children endure, it became her mission to bring awareness to their situations, and to better their lives by rallying her community to bolster the strained and underfunded system supporting them.
