The Foundation for a Human Internet (FHI), an award-winning, open-source non-profit, strives to promote safer online communities. Guided by the principle, ‘One Human, One Voice,’ we extend undisputable rights into the digital world. We fight against big tech that prioritize profits over user safety, selling people’s data and privacy, and threatening our fundamental freedom of speech.
FHI’s flagship product is humanID, an anonymous, bot-resistant online identity that replaces invasive tools such as “Login with Facebook” or Google’s pesky reCAPTCHA. Unlike existing logins, humanID has developed technologies that massively increase the cost for automated accounts, bots, and previously banned users to return to a website. humanID also allows users to sign onto third-party websites or apps with total anonymity, creating higher levels of trust and protection from data breaches. Absolutely zero personal identifiable information is stored or shared.
The team is proud of our robust and diverse leadership on both technical and business aspects. Together, we are building world-class technology as public infrastructure for the web of tomorrow, and adapted humanID’s technology to a variety of platforms, already protecting thousands on social media sites, and reporting/whistleblowing platforms for victims of drug crimes and sexual abuse.
humanID's leadership team includes experienced cybersecurity experts, seasoned entrepreneurs, and graduates from some of the highest-ranked colleges and universities in the United States. Our early development was supported and funded by Harvard Business School.
But most of all, FHI is driven by dozens of volunteers – including a strong open source engineering community – that managed to build and maintain this organization, spending less than $30,000 since inception in 2020. Our founders – including graduates of Harvard Business School – have spent years building the organization full-time and unpaid.
Today, we need your support to scale a technology creating an internet for future generations, enforcing users’ rights to privacy while preventing abuse at the hands of the few.
