Four Humors creates art that celebrates the humor, stupidity, and beauty of our world by letting the artist connect with the audience in a vulnerable and honest way. Founded in 2005, Four Humors creates engaging and celebrated original theatrical works in the Twin Cities. The company focuses on collaboratively devised and newly adapted works using a comedic lens to tell relevant, moving, entertaining, and thought-provoking theater. During the past 16 years, Four Humors has produced 30 original productions, 3 pre-existing works, a dozen free (and very popular) theatrical workshops for local artists, multiple award-winning American/Canadian Fringe circuit tours of its original content, and a number of award-winning video shorts. The company thrives on creating events and spaces that foster community, connection, and celebration. From 2010-2012, Four Humors produced a monthly cabaret featuring artists from a multitude of disciplines including sketch, storytelling, standup, slam-poetry, and music. In 2012 Four Humors founded the Twin Cities Horror Festival (an eleven-day, live performance festival featuring original works in theater, dance, music, and film) which has gone on to become its own 501c3 org supporting hundreds of artists each year. And in 2018, Four Humors founded the tremendously well-received MN Theater Awards, a program designed to celebrate, elevate, and bring together the MN Theater Community, which City Pages called the “awards show we need right now.”
