Franciscan Outreach is a leading nonprofit, 501c3 provider of homeless services in Chicago. With 60 years of experience, we operate a system of support for vulnerable and marginalized men and women experiencing homelessness. The mission of Franciscan Outreach is to provide healthy meals, safe shelter, and critical services that affirm the dignity of individuals who are marginalized and homeless and empower them to gain the stability they need to transition into permanent housing. Our vision is to ensure a positive path forward for people who are marginalized and homeless so they can gain stability and thrive in permanent housing. Through our programs, we provide basic needs and offer access to services, resources, and support that empowers our guests with the resolve of transformation, while championing and advocating for housing, healthcare, and employment.
Franciscan Outreach operates the largest shelter on the west side of Chicago, and second-largest shelter in the City of Chicago. Last year we served approximately 2,500 individuals across four service sites. While our scope of services and mission have grown and evolved over the years; more than half a century after our founding, we remain dedicated to serving Chicago's most vulnerable residents with compassion and respect.
