Franklin County Humane Society of Missouri is an open-admission shelter for dogs and cats. We are the last option for orphaned pets. We provide care, love, and adoption opportunities for every animal. We also provide services to pet owners to keep pets and people together. Our shelter offers reduced-cost spay and neuter vouchers, a low-income pet food pantry, low-cost vaccination clinics, and other support for pet owners. Our Canine Ambassadors attend schools, libraries and senior living centers to share the joy of companion dogs and educate our community about responsible pet ownership.
In 2021, we adopted 932 dogs and cats into loving homes. We reunited 173 lost pets with their owners. We provided nursery care to 619 puppies and kittens and mentored 18 foster families as they cared for pets outside of our shelter facility. It costs over $1,700 a day to operate our facility. We are supported by donations, grants, fundraisers and fees. We do not receive funding from the Humane Society of Missouri, United Way, or federal, state or county governments.
