Fredericksburg Preschool, Inc. (FPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, secular, parent-run and play-based cooperative preschool located in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia. The members and teachers of FPI are pleased to have served the children of the greater Fredericksburg area for 46 years. Our motto is “creating a lifetime of learning...right from the start.” Our teachers, as well as our member parents are involved in every aspect of running the school: scheduling field trips, assisting in the classroom, fundraising, cleaning, maintenance, and ensuring the school meets Virginia state licensing regulations. Being a cooperative, FPI is unique in that students have more frequent contact with their parents, lower tuition, and families have more transparency and involvement in school matters.
Our aim is to provide a happy, early school experience in a healthy purposeful setting where children may grow naturally. The unique and exciting value of a cooperative school lies in the learning experience it provides for the child and the participating families. FPI believes that a child's natural way of learning is through play. We believe the school should provide experiences that stimulate the child's development, as well as encourage social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. We also believe the school should stimulate the child's natural creativity and curiosity.
