Nonprofit Category: F - Mental Health & Crisis Intervention
Exempt Status: 501(c)(3) (IRS Form 990 Filed)

The mission of the team is to bring awareness to the mental health crisis impacting children, adolescents and
young adults, honor those who are survivors, and call attention to the need for more programs with the
capability to meet young people where they are.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for the 15-24 age group, and these were the statistics prior to the
pandemic. In St. Louis County on average, 13 youths attempt suicide every day. The greatest medical risk to
teens is depression and suicide, accounting for 20% of all teen deaths. More children die from suicide in the
15-19 age group than from the top 6 medical causes of death combined. One in 19 students report having
made a suicide attempt during the last year. Missouri is worse than the national average and rural counties
are typically worse than urban counties. In Missouri, about 102 adolescents/young adults (10-24) die by
suicide each year.
One thing to remember is that every number in these statistics is a person, a young person who needs our
help and is waiting for recovery to find them. Each number represents a life, a sister or brother, a daughter or
a son, someone who is important to their parents, grandparents and classmates, a child, maybe even mine or
yours.
