Friends of Pool 2 is a 501(c)3 charity working on behalf of recreational river users in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Region. Our mission is to help keep the river in Pool 2 clean, safe, and navigable. Our programs inlude free life jacket loaner stations located at multiple locations throughout Pool 2 of the Mississippi River, education and outreach efforts for recreational users of all ages, including educational videos and in-person events throughout the year. We also sponsor kids' fishing clinics, native seed planting, river cleanups, fishing tackle loaner stations for children, informational displays at boat shows and other local events.
We also advocate for common sense decision making on behalf of our supporters, who are active users of Pool 2 of the Mississippi River. Pool 2 extends from Lock and Dan #2 near Hastings upriver to Lock and Dam #1 (also known as the Ford Dam) near Minneapolis, as well as a portion of the Minnesota River between the confluence with the Mississippi and Savage, MN
