Mission of Friends of SWS's purpose to promote and support the ongoing educational programming, staff professional development, and future growth of SWS. Friends fulfills this purpose through raising and managing private funds to augment funding SWS receives through its DC Public School budget. Because of Friends of SWS, School Within School is able to provide: 

1. Teaching Aides
2. The FRESHFARM FoodPrints program(A program that integrates gardening, cooking, and nutrition education into the curriculum).
3. Additional training and tools to ensure general education teachers can meet the needs of SWS's Medical & Education Support (MES) and Communication & Education Support populations. 
4. Responsive classroom training and curriculum to promote social and emotional learning (SEL); and
5. Diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracist programming
