Since 1978, the Friends of the Leon Valley Public Library, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, has been the support organization for the Leon Valley Public Library. Combining the interests of both residents and businesses, the Friends have ensured that the library has the extra resources that it needs to continue to be the heart of the city. The Friends have raised money and provided volunteers for projects, furnishings, supplies, matchings grants, and programs for every age group.

The Friends of the Leon Valley Public Library is a non-policy-making and non-profit organization whose objective is to promote the interest and welfare of the Leon Valley Public Library as a cultural and educational asset to the City of Leon Valley and the surrounding area.
