FUNctional EDventures strives to encourage growth in knowledge and advocacy through comprehensive support for students with disabilities, their families, and their teachers so that students of all abilities can be included in the classroom and the community.
Our After School Enrichment consists of intensive academic tutoring online in combination with functional life skills classes. This academic support is paired with functional social skills classes where students play games, participate in “social scripts” and learn functional life skills that the students can practice in the community.
Family Support consists of weekly, one-hour, virtual parent social meetings to create community and learn from educational professionals.
Our Teacher Inclusion Support/Differentiation Program, entitled “differentiatED,” allows teachers to feel supported by receiving monthly coaching and modified curricula. Teachers receive an individualized, differentiated curriculum based on the academic work they submit for modification.
We view our responsibility as extending far beyond the mere teaching of academic and social skills: we foster a sense of belonging in all of our young people.
