To ensure all student parents have the opportunities to succeed, experience economic mobility, and build wealth, Generation Hope engages education and policy partners to drive systemic change and provides direct support to teen parents in college as well as their children through holistic, two-generation programming.

Vision
All teen parents and student parents, and their children, have every opportunity to succeed and are empowered to create a better future for themselves, our community, and our world.

Organization Overview:

Fewer than 2% of teen mothers earn a college degree before age 30, and more than half of all parenting college students leave school without a degree. Generation Hope is committed to changing these statistics one family and one system at a time. Through our family-centered direct service in the Washington, DC region, Greater New Orleans area and Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, we help teen parents earn college degrees and secure jobs with family-sustaining wages and help their children prepare for Kindergarten and beyond. Through our technical assistance partnerships with higher ed institutions, we are transforming the sector to increase the number of parenting college students who make it to the graduation stage. And through our policy & advocacy work, we drive policies, produce original research, and gather stakeholders to accelerate the economic and social mobility of parenting college students and their families nationwide.

We know that educational attainment can impact generations.  Our family-centered model is built on this premise and allows us to work directly with families who have been historically excluded from educational opportunities while also driving systemic change. Through our Scholar Program, we help teen parents earn college degrees and secure jobs with family-sustaining wages. Through our Next Generation Academy, we help our Scholars’ children prepare for success and wellbeing in elementary school. Together, these programs help families achieve their educational goals and break the cycle of poverty.
