The mission of Child Care Counts is to help low-income working families in the greater Washington DC metro area achieve a better quality of life for their families. The primary way we do this is by providing child care scholarships so that families have more options for quality child care. Our support is multi-generational in that it empowers young parents as they strive to complete their education or achieve career goals that move them toward financial stability. At the same time, we are providing low-income families with options for quality child care that they could never have afforded, without our support, increasing the likelihood that their children will be ready for kindergarten and for their own future success. The families we serve do not qualify for public vouchers but do not earn enough to afford quality child care. They must be working full-time or working and attending college.
