Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. This year, 2022, marks the 110th anniversary of Girl Scouts USA and the 90-year anniversary of the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada (GSSNV).
For most of the past century, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada has provided opportunities for K-12 girls to support one another through the very best and even the more challenging times in their lives. From its early beginnings in Boulder City, the Girl Scouts and their ever-expanding council grew its focus to encompass the entire Las Vegas Valley, continuing to spread the message that girls are strong, important, and influential. Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada supports the dreams, growth, and success of thousands of local girls. Today, GSSNV is regarded as a prominent leadership development organization in the valley.
Girl Scouts helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others. Girls at home and abroad participate in troops and groups in more than 92 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas, and over 100 local Girl Scout councils offer girls the opportunity for membership across the United States. More than 50 million women in America today enjoyed Girl Scouts during their childhood—and that number keeps on growing as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.
