Girls Incorporated is part of a national organization that was founded in 1945, and Girls Incorporated of Kingsport was chartered in 1965.  We provide educational enhancement programs for girls 4-18 after school, before school, throughout the summer, and outreach in Sullivan and Hawkins County, TN and Scott County, VA.  We currently serve 2194 girls throughout the region, over 99% of which come from single parent households with annual incomes less than $30,000.  It is our mission, to inspire ALL girls to become Strong, Smart and Bold!

Our priority at Girls Incorporated of Kingsport is to advocate and provide programs for girls that will allow them to develop into self-reliant, responsible, healthy, and successful women.  We offer over 30 research-based programs that focus on healthy living, education, and independence.   Through a girls only and pro-girl environment, and hands-on and age appropriate content, Girls Inc provides opportunities including: visualizing future careers; developing economic literacy; exploring science and technology; maintaining a healthy body; pursuing leadership and community involvement; acquiring the skills needed to participate in sports activities; improving reading and math skills; and investigating and participating in cultural and heritage events.  We have also found the needs of the girl are best fulfilled if the needs of her family are being met.  Programs we offer to our families include a clothes closet, food pantry, parenting classes, financial responsibility, and a community garden.
