Hi,
We will be raising money for the All-Accessible Playground Project for Glen Lake Elementary School in the Hopkins School district.. You may have already heard about it -it has been featured on Kare 11, WCCO, on national news with Steve Hartman's On the Road Again, The Drew Barrymore Show and on February 1, we will be on the Kelly Clarkson Show!
If you haven't heard about it -The Accessible Playground project is a mission that the 5/6th grade multiage classroom from Mrs. Betsy Julien's class decided to take on. They believe ALL children should be able to play at recess. So, Play4All became the moto. The students have done bake sales, called local businesses, walked door to door, did a coin drive and asked the community for help. Collectively they have raised more than a HALF MILLION DOLLARS!
BMW of Minnetonka was the first company to give us a sizeable donation of $10,000 -from there, money started flooding in. A $200,000 anonymous donation completed the first goal of $300,000 to buy a wheelchair swing and we-go-round for wheelchairs.
The students wanted to keep on raising money to build a full playground. So, back to the drawing board with Flagship Recreation (they are the reps for Landscape Structures in Minnesota.) The design team is furiously working on our masterpiece and helping build a playground of our dreams! Our new goal is $900,000 -or, what I call the Million Dollar Playground. I just KNOW we are going to reach that amount.
Most recently we have partnered with the MN Vikings and Timberwolves to help us on our journey and to continue spreading the word.
We are DREAMING BIG!
