Goodwill's mission statement is "Improving lives through the power of work". Good-transitions program is one of several programs offered at our Goodwill location. Good-transitions program works to improve lives of youth in foster care ages 14-17 through Independent living training. The Independent Living program is responsible for helping youth identify their needs before they age out of care through hands on education. Our program is divided into three groups: 14-15, 16-17, and 18-21. Our 14-15 year olds are our in class participants. They come to classes such as Love-146, Financial literacy, no bullying, first aid training, and many other classes offered at our location or throughout the community. Our next group is our 16-17 year olds. Our 16-17 year olds are in the in-home service portion of the program. They focus on life skill needs such as: taxes, communication, job interview ettiquette, cooking, laundry, and many other needs they will need to know before they turn 18 years old. Lastly, our last group consist of case management youth. Case management ages range from 18-21 years old. Although this group has aged out of care they still may need life skills assistance. Goodwill is a unique nonprofit because we focus on helping people where they are at in life to help them build a better future for themselves through good work!
