Gum Moon Women’s Residence and the Asian Women’s Resource Center (AWRC) address the unmet needs of women and children in geographic and social transition.

Located in the heart of SF Chinatown since 1868, Gum Moon provides a safe sanctuary to live in and various programs that develop life skills. Gum Moon empowers these individuals, fostering stability, self-reliance, self-determination, and full access to opportunity. In the 1980s, Gum Moon expanded its services by starting the Asian Women's Resource Center to provide family development programs focusing on healthy early-child development as well as information and referral resources.

Throughout the years, Gum Moon’s services & history have adapted to the ever-changing needs of the Asian Immigrant Community of the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, there are women of all backgrounds living in the Residence Hall, where they participate in various programs to learn professional & general life skills.
