HABLA is a 501(c)3 non-profit parent group dedicated to supporting River Glen K-8 School, a bilingual Spanish-English, public magnet school in San José Unified School District. Though River Glen School is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, we serve a population that is 84% LatinX with almost half living at or below the local poverty line. Funds raised at by HABLA are used to supplement music and art education, a state-of-the art library, and additional programs, including offering need-based scholarships for after-school enrichment programs. Your direct contribution can help support and sustain these critical programs for our school.
River Glen School, located in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose, offers K-8 students the unique and exciting opportunity of learning to communicate fluently in two languages, Spanish and English. It is a Title One, public, magnet school in the San Jose Unified School District that was established in 1986. It is a model for similar programs within the School District and across the country. River Glen has about 60 students per grade level (K-8), which makes our student population around 550. The school's goal is to educate students to be bilingual and biliterate and enable them to meet the challenges of a global society. The River Glen Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Program has received a national award of Academic Excellence and is a California Distinguished School.
