Harbor House, Inc. is a multi-city behavioral health organization based in Fort Smith, AR.  Harbor House, Inc. (HHI) was founded in 1966 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit residential facility for males suffering from alcoholism.  In the late 70's HHI expanded its scope to include providing treatment services for those addicted to other drugs.  By the 80's, HHI perceived a distinct need for family recovery and implemented a Family Awareness Program.

In 2011, HHI merged with Gateway House, Inc., a treatment center for women, forming Harbor Recovery Center (HRC) for males and Gateway Recovery Center (GRC) for women.  While both HRC and GRC offered Transitional LIving (TL) outpatient, there was a need for regular outpatient.  Fast forward to 2016 and the growing need for outpatient services was evident.  The first of 13 outpatient clienics around the state of Arkansas was opened.  Harbor Behavioral Health is in Fort Smith and the other sites are in Booneville, Ozark, Rogers, Fayetteville, Clarksville, Russellville, Conway, North little Rock, Little Rock, Hot Springs and Texarkana.  Additionally, due to Fort Smith's location near the AR/OK border, HHI services counties in Oklahoma including Sequoyah, Leflore and Adair, as well as Cherokee Nation.  HHI has an average of 750 clients being treated in some form each day.

The following services and programs are provided by HHI: Interim Services, Observational Detoxification, Adult Residential Treatment, Specialized Women's Services (women bring their children with them to treatment) Outpatient Treatment, Care Coordination, Case Management and Transitonal Living.  HHI utilizes the 12 Steps, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing.  HHI's approach to treatment is trauma-informed, strengths-based, attachment-focused, evidence-based and individalized.  Our belief is that our clients are not broken - they are stuck in situations, enivironments and relationships that no longer work for them.  Our staff helps clients to see that they deserve more, can accomplish more and that they can build a life worth living.  Reunification with loved ones is often a goal for our clients and their Recovery Team - therpist, counselor and recovery coach - work together on the identified treatment goals and objectives.
