Mission: The HCPL Foundation serves to augment the financial resources of the Library, promote awareness of its services, and facilitate its development as a creative environment within the county that encourages the love of reading.

The Harford County Public Library Foundation raises supplemental funding and community awareness to support the Library's capacity to provide new and expanding services, materials, and access for all people living and working in Harford County, MD.

The Foundation is led by a 15 member Board of Directors representing commuity and business leaders in Harford County including three members of the HCPL Board of Trustees. It is also supported by a group of committed business leaders who serve on the Foundation’s Honorary Committee.

Through corporate sponsorships, individual giving, special events and grants, the HCPL Foundation is able to support programs and initiatives such as new technologies, early literacy, summer and winter reading challenges, STREAM (STEM plus Reading and Art!), Silver Reader, author discussions, and more! The Foundation has completed several successful capital campaigns to support the new Havre de Grace Library, the Darlington Library, the Innovation Lab at the Abingdon Library, and the new Center for Early Literacy at the Bel Air Library.

The Foundation’s signature fundraiser is its annual gala, An Evening in the Stacks, when the Abingdon Library is transformed for an evening of food, drinks, music and dancing.
