Our Vision is to openly engage our community and its diverse people and foster joy for music and an appreciation of its transformative power.

The HSO offers a valuable place for the community of Hartford to seek healing, equity, and restoration. Through our collaborations with many local artists as part of our Talcott Mountain concert series as well as our POPS! music series, we are able to offer surrounding artists a stage to share their voice with the Hartford community. Whether they are representing traditionally marginalized groups, or whether they are young artists who are trying to share their passion with the world, the HSO is committed to offering artistic and creative space to those who are fighting for it. To that end, we also hold our annual Young Artist's Concerto Competition, which offers young musicians the opportunity to perform live with our symphony! In addition, we hold Discovery concerts to engage local youth and invite them to participate in symphony concerts during their school days. Through our Musicians Care Project, we have the opportunity to share the joy of music to those who would be unable to enjoy live performancese otherwise by sending chamber groups from our symphony to perform programs in health care facilities. The Hartford Symphony is so much more than merely Beethoven on a stage in a stuffy concert hall-we seek to share the gift of music with the Hartford community, and to inspire creativity and artistry in our world.
