Haven House is one of only two domestic violence shelter's in Northwest Indiana's Lake County. We have been serving both Indiana and Illinios families for over 40 years. Haven House provides safe shelter and meets all shelter needs to adults and their children who are fleeing domestic violence. Last year alone we served 247 in our shelter. While at the Haven House, residents access food, clothing, hygiene products, case manangement, counseling, lifeskills classes, and support. We strive to empower residents in their transformation from victim to survivor. Haven House continues to provide support through assistance with housing needs, household items, food and outreach services.
Not only does Haven House assist during and after crisis, we work towards prevention by talking to and working with youth and youth groups in our community. We do this using a trauma informed, strength based, peer reviewed cirriculum on building healthy relationships, setting boundaries, effective communication and more.
