Research indicates that family engagement can lead to higher grades and test scores, increased attendance and better behavior. The Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) offers a range of programs and services for Hayward families to get involved and stay engaged.
Parent University is an umbrella term used in HUSD that encompasses the following programs:
• Academic Excellence Days
• 2nd Chance at College Two-Generations (2Gen)
• Family Classes
• Family Engagement Outreach and Equity Specialist
• Fatherhood Initiative
• Parent Ambassadors
• Parent Power Sessions
• Family Cafe
Parent University works to engage and empower families, students and the community in the Hayward Unified School District through an equitable, holistic approach. We encourage our Hayward parents to take part in the programs throughout their students' educational journey. In addition to programs, parents can actively participate on parent committees such as:
District English Advisory Committee (DELAC)
English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
African American Student Achievement Initiative (AASAI)
School Site Council (SSC)
School Based Decision Making (SBDM)
