HCHC is a nonprofit community health center in Virginia serving Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, and the surrounding areas. Many of the over 14,000 patients we serve are uninsured or underinsured and part of a vulnerable population. They often come to us with fear, shame, or insecurity about how to solve their health problems or care for their well-being because healthcare feels out of reach for those who cannot afford it. However, at HCHC, we believe that every community member deserves equal access to the healthcare they need, and we are there to meet them where they are.
As a nonprofit community health center, HCHC offers holistic health services that include family medicine, pediatric care, dental care, behavioral health counseling, women’s health, prenatal care, pharmacy, and HIV/AIDS care management. We value caring for the whole person and recognize that supporting the health of our community goes beyond a medical diagnosis, so we also provide community resource support, operate an in-house food pantry, and ensure culturally competent care through onsite interpreters for the 48% of our patients best served in a language other than English. Our services are made accessible and affordable for all because financial and social barriers should never stay in the way of receiving exceptional health services.
