About the Nonprofit

Heart of Acara Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization designed to provide financial relief or amenities to improve the quality of life for those diagnosed with a terminal illness, and to support community awareness and access to end-of-life care.

We serve hospice patients in the Brazos Valley and beyond. Our main initiatives are:

NEEDS:
We exist to meet the needs of hospice patients that go beyond what their traditional hospice benefit covers. We can help provide for basic needs like air conditioners or heaters, groceries or one-time expenses like rent or a utility bill.

WISHES:
We love the opportunity to hear about hospice patient wishes and try to help make those come true. Whether it is as simple as a pedicure or a day trip to the lake, or as big as meeting a celebrity - we want to try to make it happen.

EDUCATION:
Community education is very important to Heart of Acara Foundation. Whether we speak to civic organizations or church groups, or host our own educational events, we are committed to providing information to the communities we serve about long-term care and end-of-life planning.

HOME:
Our community needs a hospice house, and we intend to build one! A hospice house would provide an alternative place for patients to go in the final days/weeks/months of their lives, if going to their own home or a long-term care facility is not a viable option.
